Woodcut of a flock of swans by Japanese artist Takehiko Asano. Pretty wall decoration ready to be framed. The swan, an immaculate bird, its whiteness is a symbol of power and grace. It also symbolizes light.

Takehiko Asano (1927-2016), a woodcut artist from Tomakomai City, studied under Sumio Kawakami. He received advice on woodcuts while attending medical school at Hokkaido University.
After graduating from college, he worked in a hospital in Tomakomai City, and in 1960 served as chief of internal medicine at Tomakomai City General Hospital. Asano devoted himself to his work as a doctor during the week, while working as an engraver on his days off. His creative activities continued throughout his life and he played an important role in the Hokkaido printmaking world, including helping to found the Sapporo Print Association in 1954.
In 1992, he received the Tomakomai City Cultural Award in recognition of his long-standing contribution to the cultural development of Tomakomai, and from 2004 to 2009, he served as president of the Tomakomai Art Association, supporting the world of Tomakomai art.
