Saegusa SOUTAROU (1911-2006) Biography: Born in 1911 in Kagawa prefecture, he became a recognized sculptor very early and participated in numerous prestigious salons where he won numerous awards. His works are collected by museums and also exhibited as monuments in major cities across Japan.

A great art lover, Saegusa is known for a variety of themes and postures, reflecting traditional Japanese culture with the addition of some abstract elements. His works are highly appreciated for their artistic beauty. After retiring from a professorship at Nagoya University of the Arts, he created numerous large-scale bronze monuments and sculptures. Even into his 90s, he continued to create beautiful works of art.

The item is in very good condition with only minor abrasions due to its age: Showa period/late 20th century.
