A magnificent example of the art of Japanese printmaking with this very special woodblock print.

In white and Black with simple, raw lines giving a majestic aesthetic to these two horses which rear up. The background of the print was drawn like a carved piece of wood, probably a reference by the artist to his primary art.

Effectively, Seiji Sato, his very famous in Japan for his wood carved sculptures. The artwork is signed "Seiji" on the print and numbered and signed in pencil on the margin by the artist in kanji.

This work will take a special place in an interior decoration. The modernity and the strength that emanates from it can only catch our eyes. A perfect gift for horses lovers or to celebrate the zodiac sign of the horse.

Seiji Sato Biography:

Seiji Sato, a sculptor born in Koriyama in 1915 (Taisho 4). He learned traditional wood carving techniques from his hometown wood carver, Sosaku Miki (1891-1945), and after the war, studied under Seiko Sawada (1894-1988).

Since the 1960s, he has released unique works that are stoic yet free-spirited, with modern modeling backed by solid technology. It reflects the artist's personality and is also the result of his rich observing eyes and sensitivity.

The sculptor, who says, "It's important to destroy yourself and make it," and "I'm moving forward with the desire to discover something first," continues to change in search of fresh excitement. He has served as a judge and a councilor at the Nitten, and was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure in 1997 (Heisei 9).

Sculptor Seiji Sato, who is also the frontier ambassador of Koriyama City, has works such as monuments exhibited in various places in Koriyama City. Introducing the history of the creation of more than 70 years. Works such as dignified and powerful monks, innocent-looking toddlers, beautiful female figures and merciful mother-child figures-the warmth and freshness of the wood will gently wrap us and bring us a relaxing time.
