Beautiful traditional Japanese rectangular vintage bento box and small round box. These two beautiful jewelry or trinket boxes are highly decorative.

Unique and rare by its lacquer style, the Ryumon nuri, which can be found in only one place in Japan in the city of Naruko precisely. Very few craftsmen have the secrets and the technique of this lacquer. Today they are only about 10 craftsmen.

It is a perfect gift for Japanese culture fans, lacquer collectors, or for those who appreciate beautiful and unique handcrafted items.

Naruko Lacquerware (Naruko Shikki) has been around for centuries and its crafting technique was passed down from generations to generations. The Naruko Lacquerware is beautifully crafted to withstand the many years of use, and is truly an art piece to appreciate.
One significant coating method used is the Ryumon (dragon pattern): a coating of beautifully applied marble patterning using a unique ink marbling process.
Ryumon-nuri was developed by Mr. Goichi Sawaguchi in 1951 and is known as a unique lacquering style peculiar to Naruko.
