Lovely 'Hariko no tora' or 'papier-mâché tiger'. This stunning artwork is a traditional Japanese craft from Kagawa prefecture with a 150-Year History! This Hariko tiger will be the perfect gift as a cheerful lucky charms for animal and Japan lovers.

This unique tiger figure with head that moves when blown by wind will definitively make you smile. In Japan, tigers are known for their bravery and also for having close-knit families.

The papier-mâché tiger represents courage and family love. The tigers are also there to help children grow strong and healthy. Perhaps the more famous and interesting type of hariko no tora is the one with the bobbing head like this one. The wobbly tiger from Japan has always been more than an ordinary paper tiger. It used to be a popular children's toy. Later it also conquered the hearts and homes of adults - the tiger became increasingly popular as an exclusive decorative element.

The shape and color of the patterns differ according to the maker, which is why no two tigers are the same.

Hariko means papier-mâché and Tora means tiger in Japanese. Boy’s Day is an annual celebration held on May 5th, and a baby boy’s first Boy’s Day is called Hatsuzekku. Hariko no Tora are prominent in a boy’s Hatsuzekku to wish for his healthy growth, and they are often used as gifts to celebrate the birth of a boy.
